Resolutions 2017

1.  We the members of the Independent Loyal Orange Institution assembled on the 327th anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne, return thanks to Almighty God for his preservation and deliverance in times past and for those who have defended our civil and religious liberties. Once again our institution declares our steadfast loyalty to the British Throne and Constitution and re-affirms our continued resolve to support and defend the Protestant religion, the Laws of the Realm, the legislative Union and the succession to the Throne in the House of Windsor, it being Protestant. We would like to take this opportunity to thank HRH Prince Phillip for all his years of devoted service to Queen and country and wish him good health in his coming retirement. We also give thanks to god for the gracious manner in which Her Majesty has served the nation and commonwealth and congratulate her on becoming the longest reigning Monarch.

2.  In this the 500 th anniversary year since Martin Luther nailed his 95 thesis to the church door at Wittenberg, Germany resulting in the The Reformation .We the members of the Independent Loyal Orange Institution are resolutely determined to unashamedly defend the fundamental truths of the protestant faith as defined in the five Solas: Sola Scriptura” (Scripture Alone); “Sola Gratia” (Grace Alone); “Sola Fide” (Faith Alone); “Solus Christus” (Christ Alone); and “Soli Deo Gloria” (To God Above Be Glory. These truths are still as relevant today in this age of ecumenical concession, charismatic confusion and evangelical compromise. The Roman Catholic Church has not changed its dogmas. As an Institution committed to these Biblical truths rediscovered at the Reformation we therefore call upon all those who claim to be Protestant and indeed all our fellow countrymen and women to diligently search the scriptures for they alone can make us wise unto salvation. The Bible is the only book that gives us hope, not only for the present but for eternity.

3.  As an Institution we deplore the continued breaking of the fourth commandment in which god sets apart the Sabbath day as a day of worship and rest. We are saddened by the increase in Sunday sport, entertainment, trading and recreation. God has established this special day of rest, both for worship and as a benefit to humanity. It is both religious and physical folly for mankind to ignore the opportunity presented by Sabbath rest. We remain concerned by the discrimination against protestants who in conscience refuse to work on the Christian Sabbath.

4.  We the members of the Independent Loyal Orange institution remain deeply concerned with the erosion of the institution of marriage as appointed by God and call on the legislators to continue to ensure the status quo remains. We also remain totally opposed to any dilution of the laws concerning abortion.

5.  The Independent Loyal Orange Institution has been constitutionally unionist and democratic in its structures and beliefs. We return thanks to Almighty God for the principles of Orangeism and place on record our firm determination to continue the noble work begun by the pioneers of the Independent Loyal Orange Institution in 1903. While we wish to maintain our distinctiveness and our witness, we desire to continue the development of fraternal bonds of friendship within the Orange family. We believe that unity within the Orange family helps to defend and promote the Protestant faith, the Union with Great Britain, and our right to celebrate our rich heritage and culture.

Our motto as ever is, PROTESTANTISM NOT POLITICS, PRINCIPLES NOT PARTY, MEASURES NOT MEN.

No Surrender.

God save Our Queen
